EMPower commissioned Brightwind, an Irish wind energy analysis consultancy, to perform a preliminary wind resource assessment based on the 2003 SEAI wind map. This report found the Shronowen Wind Farm site to have a Class 2 wind resource. Given a 12 turbine layout of 4.2 MW machines, the park was calculated to produce enough clean, renewable electricity to power over 38,000 Irish homes.

EMPower enlisted WKS Global to install a met mast in Shronowen in late January 2019. The met mast will be measuring wind data for 15 months. Wind speeds consistent with that of our desk based research have since been recorded.
