Several connection configurations are being considered for the Shronowen wind farm project, taking account of existing and planned transmission infrastructure, existing and planned generators and system loads. An existing 110kV transmission line runs through a portion of the Shronowen Wind Farm. 

 

The preferred connection strategy of the project features an internal collector circuit and onsite substation which will connect to the existing 110kV transmission line. This will negate the requirement for additional external power lines. Any connection strategy will not be finalised until a connection offer is made by Eirgrid.

A grid integration study will be carried out in conjunction with Eirgid and can commence in Q1 2022 once the planning process has been completed.
